The Tranny Tribune - March 2008

Welcome to The Trib...

Hooray it's March and that means it's nearly time for spring and bunnies and warmer weather. Well it is here anyway. And because it's March that means it won't be long till it's June and you know what happens in June, don't you?

Sparkle happens in June. It's the biggest annual gathering of transvestites, crossdressers, transsexuals and transgender people in general in the UK and if you're reading this in another country, then it's worth coming over for.

This year I'm proud to announce that Trannyweb is among the event's sponsors and I hope that we will be able to have some kind of presence there. You may remember that we nearly had a Trannyweb stall at Sparkle last year but the person who was running it got stuck in a lift at her hotel!

Bella Jay, who is the coordinator for Sparkle this year, talks a bit about the event below and has promised to keep us informed of new developments. As you can probably tell, I'm really looking forward to being there myself having missed it in previous years.

There's lots of other good stuff in this issue, like our photo competition and announcements of various new features to help make your visits to Trannyweb more enjoyable and productive.

Hugs, Katie xxxx

Trannyweb Photo Competition by Anna Marie Trindall

TW Photo Competition
A beautiful sunset and a UFO by Anna Marie Trindall

I'm sure that here at Trannyweb we must have a few girls that are good with cameras (taking pics) other than the normal ones. I know every time I go anywhere, the camera comes with me 'cos I never know when the opportunity to take a really good pic will present itself.

So why not have a competition to see who can come up with the best pic. It can be of any subject you like and Katie has offered some Trannyweb goodies as prizes so lets see what we can come up with.

I'll start the ball rolling with this one (above) - hope you like it!

Bennie Lee For President - Campaign Update!

Bennie Lee
Bennie Lee with a campaign supporter

Transgendered independent write-in US presidential candidate Bennie Lee "Ben" Ferguson is holding her selection of a vice-presidential running mate in abeyance while considering the constitutional dictates of the Twelfth Amendment, which prohibits electors from casting their ballots for presidential and vice-presidential candidates who reside in the same state.

Last week, Ferguson had selected fellow-Kansan Vince Bostic as her vice-presidential running mate, but has since decided to contact out-of-state individuals regarding this matter before making a final decision.

Ferguson had originally intended to run alone, without a vice-presidential candidate on the ticket.  She became persuaded to select a running mate as the result of the requirements of various Secretaries of State offices throughout the contrary which insist on signed affidavits from both the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of a particular ticket in order for write-in votes to be tallied, recorded, and published.

These considerations are particularly important to the Ferguson campaign as it is urging the GLBT community in Kansas (and elsewhere) to support her candidacy as an alternative to casting votes for the Democratic presidential and vice-presidential nominees in the general election (the State of Kansas has not committed its electors to a Democratic presidential ticket in decades).  It is Ferguson's contention that any reasonable number of votes she receives in Kansas would attract media attention and emphasize the increasing political clout of that state's GLBT community.

Other states in which the campaign hopes to file affidavits of write-in candidacy include Texas and South Dakota.  One of the possible vice-presidential candidates currently being considered by Ferguson is a Texas resident.

Appeal for Sparkle helpers

TW Sparkle

This year for the first time, Trannyweb is a sponsor of Sparkle, the UK's largest gathering of transvestites, crossdressers, transsexuals and transgender people in general and we hope to have a large presence there.

The event takes pace in and around Canal Street in Manchester from the 27th to the 29th June inclusive and we hope to have not only a stand in the park but also perhaps a Trannyweb tent if we can find one from somewhere!

To help out on our stand and in the TrannyTent we are now looking for volunteers who will be happy to give up a few hours of their time. If you'd like to be one of them, please drop a line now to Katie at katie@trannyweb.tv. Likewise if you can led us a tent!

Sparkle 2008 - Latest...

Sparkle

My name is Bella Jay and I am the event coordinator for the Sparkle weekend 2008. I just wanted to let all Trannyweb's members know about the launch of the new-look Sparkle web site as we start the countdown to Sparkle 2008 (27-29th June, Manchester, Canal Street.).

http://www.sparkle.org.uk

I guess there may be some people out there who still haven't heard of Sparkle, so I just want to explain what it's all about:

The gay community have their 'Pride' and we are lucky enough to be included in their celebrations - but we also need our own turn to celebrate transgender in all its wonderful forms.

In 2005 Kim Angel founded Sparkle - as a national day of TG celebration. Over subsequent years it has grown to become a full weekend-long festival of all things TG!

Sparkle

Sparkle is a celebration of gender diversity, an opportunity to make new friends and obtain help, support and information on gender issues. But above all it is our chance to be proud of who we are and show the world what being TG is all about.

The most important person at Sparkle is you, this is your weekend so make the most of it and enjoy being yourself amongst friends!

Please do check out the web site, there will be lots more detail added to the site over the coming weeks so please do come back for an up-date.

Check out the 'where to stay' page to reserve your hotel accommodation as some places are already full!

The Sparkle weekend is FREE to everyone who attends, but that is only made possible by the generous support of the TG community. Financial donations or the purchase of Sparkle wristbands help to raise the funds we need for the weekend. So please do help in any way you can!
