Welcome
to the Trib Anyway, we have been busy little trannies again this month, putting together more goodies for you. Justine and MA have been organising more girly nights out, shopping trips and cheese and wine chat sessions. Our UK girly nights out are really successful these days. Now we just need to get some of these girly events going in other parts of the world as well. Do please contact me if you'd like to help organise a night out in your town. Lee Middlehurst has been adding more bits to our enormous transgender survey so if you haven't taken it yet, please go here to be part of something very big and very wonderful. Our questionnaires do ask about hormones and surgery but Katie and I have been talking about getting more details about your use of them, as part of our enormous study of Transgender lifestyles.
You see, some researchers ‘out there’ are looking into discrimination against trans people and homophobia and there’s no point in stepping on their toes even though these prejudices make us feel extremely angry.
Our survey is very valuable in another way. How do we support each other in times of stress? How do we advise each other? How do friends and family feel about our transgenderism? We’re human beings with human feelings and so-called ‘normals’ often forget that. That misunderstanding can fuel homophobia, which we would like to help prevent.
There is another area that Katie and I have been thinking of adding to the study, but before we do, we need your help.
How do you feel when you are taking hormone supplements? What drugs do you take after surgery? Have any of these medications changed the way you feel from how you felt before taking the medication? Do you feel suicidal sometimes? Do you self medicate?
First of all we need you to email us and advise us and tell us of your personal medication and surgery experiences. Then we’ll put together another survey with the right questions so that everyone who has experienced the effects of medication can fill it out properly.

Welcome
to February. I love the Spring months here in the northern
hemisphere, but this year it's come early. I would normally
not expect weather like this until March. Must be down
to Global Warming. 
Our
next Trannyweb Girly Night Out is scheduled for the Friday March
2nd, in Manchester. This one is being organised by Miss MaryAnne
Talmadge.
We
would love to hear from anybody who would like to help with putting
a night out together, for our American and Australian members (or
anywhere else in the world for that matter).

Trannyweb Book Review - True Selves by Meredith (Scoop) Newton
True Selves is a concise, yet very detailed work on what it means to be transsexual, and how others react to those of us who are TG. The book especially deals with misconceptions, and is very much geared to the friends and families of the transgendered to assist them with understanding the issue.
One of the book’s strong suits is presenting the difficult road that TG people must face, as well as not passing judgment on those who find this topic problematical to comprehend, or accept.
The authors are Dr. Mildred L. Brown, a clinical sexologist, and Chloe Ann Rounsley, a journalist who has researched transgenderism in detail before. They present a very fair portrayal of the transgendered, as well as those who struggle with understanding what their family member/friend/colleague is going through.
Utilizing clinical information and case studies, they present transgenderism in a fashion that is easily understandable, without being simplistic of condescending to the non-expert.
The book is also very informative in the ways that a transsexual goes through the SOC – Standards of Care – in their path to transitioning. The Resource Guide at the end of the book, however, is very limited, especially in its geographical focus. In all fairness, such a guide would indeed be quite huge.

Trannyweb's 7th Birthday Review by Funny Bunny
A
few of us girls travelled up to Manchester on the day before, so
that we would be there for a day of shopping and then for the main
evening of total partying. Anyway, we arrived finally in Manchester about 7.30 in the evening after picking Carren up from Gatwick Airport. She flew in from Toulouse in France. Danique also came all the way from the Netherlands.
I stayed at the New Union - it's actually on Canal Street and that meant we could just step out of the door and into the nightlife - YAY! The hotel was clean and well maintained, perhaps a little basic but it was cheap so what more could we expect.
