Welcome to the May issue of The Tranny Trib.

Sorry it's a bit late this month. There's just so much going on.

This month we launch our new transgender auction - TrannyBay and to celebrate we're giving UK£10 to everyone who registers.

We're also launching our new TrannyGames which should help to keep you occupied if you have too much time on your hands.

Our next Trannyweb Girly Night Out takes place in the wonderful city of Amsterdam in Holland next month and there's also a report of our recent girly night's out in London, England and Baltimore, Maryland.

There's an interview with the web master from one of the largest tranny web sites on the planet and news of our new Live Help feature, which will allow members to ask for help on the community site via a live chat link. Isn't technology wonderful?

Our recent make-up and dressing session with Cyanne for our Australian members went off really well. So much so in fact that we hope to arrange another sesh very soon.

There's so much going on at Trannyweb with new ideas and projects starting on an almost daily basis. I'm really finding it hard to keep up.

We've also now put some GoogleAds up around the community site. Please do check out the various sponsored links as this is still our main source of income. It is small but important.

Since our spat with PayPal, we have struggled very much financially and continue to do so. It's going to take a long time to get over the loss of our PayPal customers, even though some of them have now resubscribed.

If you use the Trannyweb facilities and benefit from our existence, please do consider putting something back by becoming a Full Member. You will get a lot more from your Trannyweb experience and will help us to keep the wolf from the door. Full Membership costs less than the price of half of one cigarette per day - a miniscule price to pay to keep this valuable resource alive.

Big Trannyweb Girly Night Out in Amsterdam!

We'll be having yet another Trannyweb Girly Night Out on Saturday 18th June.

This time it takes place in the wonderful city of Amsterdam in Holland.

The evening is being organised by Mandy High who lives there. The girls will be going to Cafe Sluitjes which is a restaurant that does a drag show and after that it's on to Lelibels which is a TV bar in the centre.

For those who want a more wild time we may also go on to some more risqué places too!

As usual, there is no charge. You'll just need to pay for your drinks, meal, entrance fees and accommodation.

US & UK Members Trannyweb Girly Night Out

May 7th saw our last Trannyweb Girly Night Out in Baltimore, MD and in London, UK at the same time. A wonderful evening was had by all.

Major thanks must go to Gloria Glover who put together the Baltimore evening at The Hippo, and huge thanks must also go to Trannyweb UK's Social Secretary, Christina Dearlove, who made the London evening happen at Trans-Mission.

We all had a great evening and are looking forward to our next girly night out in Amsterdam (see below for more details).

LiveHelp comes to Trannyweb

We've recently introduced a live help feature to the community web site. From now on, you'll see two or three buttons near the bottom of most pages, that look like this:

Clicking the first button will bring up a popup box containing help for the page you are on at the time. However, with thousands of pages in the site, we are unable to offer help for every single page.

If context sensitive help is not available, click the second button to try the Trannyweb FAQ's page, which is edited by the lovely Miss Clair Rand.

And if you are unable to find the help you need there, you can now click on the third button in the row which will connect you to a live person (usually Katie), who will be happy to help you with your problem.

Please note though, this service is meant to be for those who are encountering problems on the site and not just for having a chat.

Trannyweb joins American Express

We have now been given Merchant Status by American Express which means that we are now able to accept the Amex Card for Full Membership subscriptions (along with Visa and MasterCard which we were already able to offer).

This may sound a bit run of the mill to those who take Amex Cards every day in the course of their work. However, following our spat with PayPal back in February, this is a real morale booster. It seems we're not good enough for PayPal but we we are good enough for Amex.

Membership Cull Coming Soon

Trannyweb has been around for a while now (since 1999 to be exact) and over the years we have collected a pretty large number of members - currently over 25000.

However, many of those who joined us in the early days have not even filled out their names in their profiles and quite a lot have not logged in for years!

So now our programmers have come up with a way of deleting our dormant memberships gradually.

Their culling program will check for the following three criteria and accounts which fulfil all three will be closed:

1) Member has not logged in for more than six months

2) Member's email address is no longer valid

3) Member is not a Full Member

It's possible that as we move from sheer numbers towards quality of membership, we may also introduce more criteria to the program, like 'Member has not filled out their profile'.

We hope you won't think we're just being bolshy. We really need to reduce the size of our MySQL database because all the chaff is slowing things down for everyone.

To stay off the list you need only log in now and again and make sure that your profile is up to date. Of course it would be even better if you also took part by using the forums, chat rooms, picture galleries, blogger, polls, and so on.

Adrian Berry runs one of the most successful transgender sites on the web and the chances are that you have already heard of it - Transformation.

KG: Thanks Adrian, for talking to us here at Trannyweb. Transformation is by far the most successful online crossdressing store. Firstly, how long has Transformation had a web site?

AB: Transformation has had a website since 1996 and was the world's first online retailer for TV/TS products. Stephanie (Stephanie Ann Lloyd) realised that the internet was a perfect way for our customers to order their products and services discreetly and to indulge in their cross-dressing fantasies with complete privacy.

KG: How many visitors do you get to Transformation?

AB: It varies - but on average around 110,000 visitors per month. Just goes to show how many people really are interested in cross dressing!

KG: So is the website primarily a retail site?

AB: Yes - but we have a wide range of gender resources – including stories, picture galleries, feature galleries, make up tips, advice and our very successful personal ads. All these services are free. We do not receive any payment for these features and we consider them as just as important as our retail section.

KG: Why is that?

AB: Here at Transformation we believe that we provide more than just services and products. We support and understand what is for many a very difficult and sensitive issue. By having a gender resource section we are able to supply our visitors who may be experiencing a lot of confusion or unhappiness with help and a general understanding.

We receive lots of emails from visitors to the site who are relieved to find that they are not the only person in the world with these feelings and they are not alone. Through our personal contacts section many visitors to the site find true friendship and fulfillment.

KG: So what’s the most popular, most visited part of the site?

AB: Visitors Galleries and Personal Contacts, by far. There are over 1300 photos in the visitors’ galleries and it’s growing every week.

With the new website our visitors will be able to submit their pictures to the gallery and not have to wait. Personal contacts are also very popular and we will be expanding this with the new site.

KG: You mentioned a new site?

AB: Yes – that’s correct. A new version of the site should be going live within the next few weeks. We have received a lot of feedback from our visitors regarding the old site and have designed the new site with a new layout and new navigation - which will make it much easier to find products and resources.

There’s also a new search facility, new features, lots of new stories (both fiction and true life) and new articles. Most importantly there is a new Members section.

KG: Members section? Will you have to pay?

AB: No – this will be completely free and will allow you access to the new updated personal contacts and visitors gallery. You will be able to post your own profile in our contacts section, send and receive private messages to other users of Transformation, subscribe and unsubscribe to emailing lists and add your own pictures to our visitors' galleries section.

It will also give you access to discounts on products and services and also news relating to Transformation. All we will require from you is a valid email address; you don't have to give us any more details than you're comfortable with.

KG: What else is new – anything new product wise?

AB: Well there ’s a range of beautiful hand made corsets, new shoes and boots and a new range of silicone breasts. A new range of dressing kits which will supply you with everything you need.

Over the next few months we will be updating our clothing range to include even more lingerie and dresses. We also have a massive range of TV/TS magazines and fiction books on the new site.

KG: Sounds like the new site will be great. I’m really looking forward to seeing it. Thank you for taking the time out to talk to Trannyweb.

AB: My pleasure. Transformation has been lucky enough to have considerable success in the TV/TS market and we believe that without the many wonderful visitors and customers that we have we would not be in the position we are today.
