Welcome to the Valentine's issue of The Tranny Trib.

I sometimes think the world is against us and perhaps it really is. As we put this issue of The Trib to bed, we are suddenly faced with our most serious funding crisis yet - and all because the PayPal purity police didn't like some of the ads our members have posted (see the full story to the right).

I've been away in Australia for the last five weeks and was very pleased to meet some of our girls from down under.

We look forward to welcoming more antipodeans to Trannyweb in the future.

I've included a picture from my photoshoot in Sydney, below.

We also have a themed chat session on Tranny make-up and dressing for our members from Oceania. It takes place tomorrow evening (15th Feb) at 8pm NSW time. All are welcome. There's more on this below.

I've spent the last five weeks in Sydney, Australia, trying to have a good rest. But as anyone who knows this great city can tell you, it's not a place to go to slow down. Now that I'm back in Pommyland, I feel like I need to take a vacation to recover!

It was a very busy time but I did manage to take time off from being a tourist to have a girly night out.

As I did not know 'the lie of the land' I decided to enlist professional help and brought in Cyanne Blue and her partner Kat who run the TransFabulous dressing service.

They both know the TG scene well in Sydney so it was very reassuring to have them around. Cyanne's makeover was superb and that was followed by a brilliant photo-shoot, the results of which our Full Members can see in my new gallery here.

I have now decided that I want to be a model (LOL)! Move over Naomi Campbell - Foxy Katie's in town!

We then headed out to The Taxi club which has been a haunt for Sydney's trannies for decades and once there I met several other local girls and our own Fiona Clancy who was lovely. By the way, Fiona has just announced that she is getting married to another Trannyweb member - Adriana!

I don't remember how I got home that night but that's Katie all over - a couple of dry white wines and she's anybody's!

While in Australia I also climbed to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge to raise some money for Cancer Research. We didn't make a great deal but thanks anyway to those who sponsored me.

The view from the top was amazing although I was a little bit miffed that they wouldn't let me do the climb in my 4" heels!

UK Members - Tranny TV Documentary

This sounds like it could be fun. UK members be sure to switch on Channel 4 on Wednesday (16th Feb 2005) at 9pm to see "Why Men Wear Frocks".

It's presented by Trannyweb Celebrity Interviewee Grayson Perry.

TrannyCards Competition

Any second now we hope to introduce a tranny greetings cards feature for our Full Members. However, we will need some arty girls to help us populate the system with tranny cards.

NEW BODYBLOW FOR TRANNYWEB FROM PAYPAL

As we go to press with this edition of The Tranny Tribune, we have just been dealt a serious bodyblow by our main credit card processor - PayPal.

Without any warning whatsoever, they have closed our account and cancelled all of our member's PayPal subscriptions making it impossible for Trannyweb to collect membership subs from those who opted to pay with PayPal. That accounts for over two thirds of our Full Members.

The reason given was that we were in breach of PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy. When we tried to explain that Trannyweb is not and never has been the kind of seedy site they imagined, they simply put up the shutters and replied saying that the ruling could not be overturned.

They said that "...adult material was found on your website upon review by our Acceptable Use Policy Department". It seems that the offensive material was found in several adverts in among our classified ads.

Although technically PayPal are within their rights to close our account, we can't help feeling that they've been extremely heavy-handed - completely closing us down without any warning because they found a few adverts that they did not agree with.

Our policy has always been that sexually explicit pictures should never be displayed on the site and whenever we are alerted to such, they are removed immediately and the posters are reprimanded.

It's possible that PayPal are simply misguided. They see a transgender site and think it's like all the rest of the bad side of the internet.

It has also been suggested by some of our members that this was a just blatant and deliberate act of discrimination against transgendered people.

There could of course be some truth in that although we will never be able to know for sure.

This could not have happened at a more difficult time for Trannyweb. We were already in the midst of a huge funding crisis and now the loss of more than two thirds of our membership income will have a major impact.

Although we are very cross with PayPal we really need to divert our energies towards picking up the pieces. Our members boycotting Paypal will do nothing to help. With over 56 million accounts, they would not even notice.

Many members have already said they'd like to help. If you'd like to be among them, there are two ways you can help us get through this.

New TrannyFriends Feature

In the past you've always been able to see where other members are from and glean a little more information by looking at their profiles.

Well soon our Full Members will have access to our new TrannyFriends system which allows you to create a network of friends, meeting new people and keeping track of old acquaintances.

The software includes an enriched profile system, with guest books, private forums, photo albums, intra-site messaging and other key features that will keep visitors on your site.

You can add other members to a "Friends List". Any members that their friends have added to their own Friends List will also show up, creating a network three levels deep and allowing people to make new contacts.

Each member profile page will have it's own image gallery that you can use to share photos with other members and your own private forum available only to you and your network of friends.

You can also see who has looked at your profile recently.

The best bit is that there is no charge for using TrannyFriends - it's just another benefit of Trannyweb Full Membership!

Trannyweb Spring Brides

Tranny engagements are a bit like buses - you wait ages for a bus and then two come along at once!

Incredibly, in the last week or so not one, not two, but three Trannyweb couples have announced their engagements.

Two couples from the United States, who met at Trannyweb will soon be wed, although they've asked not to be named for now so you'll have to take our word for it. Then Trannyweb's Fiona Clancy from Australia announced that she too will be getting married to another Trannyweb member, Adriana, who lives in Holland. What a truly international organisation we are!

We wish them all the best for the future and if any of the couples needs a bridesmaid, I'm sure they'll have over 23500 to choose from!
