Welcome
to the November 2004 edition of The Tranny Tribune. Again,
it's another busy one.
In
this issue we welcome our biggest celebrity interviewee
to date - Ru Paul. We also unveil our new
TrannyChat chat Audio and Video Chat Rooms.
There's
also a report on Richard O'Brien's Transfandango
Ball which was THE spectacular
event of the tranny year with guest appearances from Kylie
Minogue and Jake shears from Scissor Sisters!
If
you are a regular Trib reader, you've probably noticed that
we've been experimenting with various layouts over the last
few months. This particular style has been prompted by information
we gleaned from The
Great Trannyweb Survey of 2004 (still running) which
suggested that some of our other layouts didn't fit people's
screens very well. Hope this is an improvement.
There
have been so many changes over the last few weeks. If you
haven't logged in for a while, please come and visit us
now.
Hugs,
Katie xxxx

NEW
AUDIO AND VIDEO TRANNY CHAT ROOMS
At last,
having spent about 18 months putting up with substandard
chat software, we are now finally able to boast having the
fastest, most feature rich tranny chat rooms on the web!
And
not before time - we were getting a reputation for rickety
chat rooms that were so unstable that if more than 6 or
7 girls were chatting at once, the whole server would crash.
The
old rooms were also terribly slow and wouldn't work properly
with Apple Macs, Netscape, Opera, Unix, AOL, in fact nothing
other than Internet Explorer and even Windows users had
problems. It was a nightmare!
We
saved and saved and now (several thousand dollars later)
we are able to offer you an amazing chat experience. It's
so fast you can hardly keep up.
We've
had to lose the personal pictures but you can still see
what people look like by checking their profile page. The
tradeoff is well worth it though.
Now
you can start your own rooms, share files, use your mic
for audio chatting and / or use your webcam for video chat.
This
is without a doubt, the single most important feature that
we've introduced recently.
The
new chat rooms are open to all members, although some of
the major bells and whistles, like video chat, will soon
only be available to our Full Members. We have to pay for
it somehow!
Please
feel free to try out the new TrannyChat rooms

THE
TRANNYWEB CELEBRITY INTERVIEW
This month Katie Glover speaks to Ru Paul |
| KG:
Thanks Ru, for talking to us here at
Trannyweb. You had a pretty tough childhood. Tell
us a little about your formative years.
RP: My childhood wasn’t
all peaches and cream but it surely could have
been a lot worse. I was a quiet kid who forced
myself to be outgoing with the help of grass and
other stimulants. The only thing I would have
changed about my formative years is that I wish
I had been more sexually promiscuous.
KG:
As a teenager you worked as a second hand car
salesman. What was that like?
RP: My brother-in-law was the
salesman, I just worked for him. I’ve never
been able to sell anybody anything. I figure,
if you want it buy it, if you don’t beat
it. I’ve always loved cars though.
My
brother-in-law sold upscale cars, so when I was
a teenager, I got to drive to school in Jaguars,
Porsches and Cadillacs.
KG:
When did you first start dressing as a girl and
why?
RP: As far back as I can remember,
I’ve always experimented with personas,
clothes, textures, colors.
Early
on I thought of these things as toys, materials
to play with. I started doing drag when I was
in a new-wave band in the early 80’s.
The
idea was to shock people but instead the response
I got was excitement from people. It was then
that I realized I was onto something.
KG:
What has been your greatest achievement
to date?
RP:
My book Lettin’ it all Hang Out is my proudest
achievement. The response I’ve gotten from
young people who’ve read it is overwhelming
and inspiring. I’m yearning to write a follow-up.
KG:
Tell us a bit about “RuPaul Red Hot!”
RP: The album chronicles the
years I spent outside of the spotlight. The joy,
the pain, the happiness the heartbreak. I’m
very proud of it because it exemplifies the kind
of music that I listen to throughout the day.
KG:
What else are you working on at the moment?
RP:
On weekends I do my night club act all
over the United States and during the week, I
do a morning drive radio show here in New York
City at Mix 102.7fm.
KG:
Is there anything else you'd like to say our 20000
members?
RP: Live your life, be free no
guilt. Do whatever you want to do as long as you
don’t hurt anybody.
