The Tranny Tribune
February 2002

Hello girls and welcome to issue number three of our new girly periodical, The Tranny Tribune. It's all about TrannyWeb and special girls like us.

In this issue, Rikki Radoula, tells you how to make those first teetering steps towards coming out. Check out the pictures. I think she can really pass. Fooled me anyway!

A debate has been going over the last few weeks, about how we're going to improve TrannyWeb and keep it from going bust.

One of our French members tells us about an exhibition of transgender art she's involved with, in Paris, France.

And there's the usual call for International Tranny Journalists. By the way, if you'd like us to advertise your tranny event, free of charge, just drop us a line at events@trannyweb.com.

And that's it - this month's Tranny Tribune!

Hugs,

Katie

1. STEPS TO COMING OUT by Rikki Radoula

Do you yearn to come out - if only you had more confidence - if only you looked more like a woman - if only you had better clothes - if only…… Have you walked the street outside a Transformation shop, or the Way Out or Northern Concorde clubs, or some other trannie venue - only to bottle out and go home frustrated? Have you driven around dressed after work or wandered the dark streets late at night suffering heart failure every time you see a police car. Or was it only me who experienced all that?

Although I have crossdressed for over 45 years, I only really came out about 2 years ago. But it has all been worth it - I have so enjoyed the 2 year journey and today I am happier and more relaxed than I have ever been. So I thought perhaps I could share a few tips and ideas to help other TGirls to make that journey to free the girl in you.

The problem for me was simple - I was embarrassed about my appearance. I thought that if I went to a shop, or club, or was seen by anyone - they would laugh at me; I would be an object of ridicule. I had some pretty convincing reasons for believing this - I had been with friends in the past when a Trannie was spotted and heard some awful comments. Worse still, a lot of the comments were justified.

We all missed that important education girls get from about age 12, from mothers, friends, TV programs and magazines. And when we start to dress, often we're like teenage girls - we want to wear those lovely strappy sandals and tops, and sparkly short skirts… all designed to look great on a size 8 teenage body - but on a middle aged, 16 stone, 6 ft colour blind fella?

It's like asking for directions isn't it? Men never want to do it. But if you are going look like a woman, act like a woman - ask for help - that's what girls do. It's not an admission of failure, its part of being a girl and should be enjoyed to the full. This was my most important lesson.

Make up, hairstyling and fashion are not male social skills and we need help, more so because we can't just pop on some make up, a wig and a dress and hope to get away with it. The make-up techniques we need are different to real women, hair needs to be the right colour and style to suite, and the clothes are designed to fit a fundamentally different shape.

So this is stage one - save up your pennies and find a good dressing service. There are lots of them around. Get a copy of the Tranny-Guide from our books page or search the web using the TrannyWeb search engine or ask for help in the TrannyWeb forums - but get professional help - you will be stunned at what can be done. Make sure you take notes and most importantly - get some good pictures of you when the job is done. You will need them later.

You need to learn to put together your image, so have a colour analysis done - as a guy - it will still provide you with the basic information you need and starting to take more interest in your appearance as a guy will help you to get your femme image together. Start reading a good woman's magazine to see what is fashionable for a woman… of your age.

Talking about taking more interest in yourself, skin care and personal hygiene for men is OK now, so kick soap into touch and start using a cleanser, toner and moisturiser - Even if your partner does not know, slowly show more interest in personal hygiene and you will be amazed and how enthusiastic she becomes in helping you.

Getting your appearance right is crucial - even real women get criticised and laughed at when they get it wrong - just look at Hello magazine if you don't believe me. So when you are "All dressed up and no place to go" - what next - We'll sort that next issue.

Looking at the pic of me at the top of this article you might be saying - "Well its OK for him - he looks like a woman." I have to admit I do feel blessed that I can transform - but it was not like that 2 years ago. - Just look at this pic to the left and you will see.

First I was over 16 stone - That's me in the middle in drab with two gorgeous Thai LadyBoys from the Simon Cabaret in Singapore - Meeting them really motivated me to come out but my make up, wig and clothes were dreadful, by comparison today -

And this, to the right, is how I used to look as a secret crossdresser a couple of years ago before I got professional help with make-up, wigs and image - and this was the best pic from the time. I though I looked pretty good than.

What I have learned is that it's not too important whether you pass or not - Even now I am read most of the time. What you will be judged on is effort your have put in to look your best - Just the same way society tends to judge any woman really. I look forward to taking you with me along the journey from this pic - to the one at the top.

2. TRANNYWEB GOING BUST?
A debate has been going over the last few weeks on the TrannyWeb message boards, about (a) How to improve TrannyWeb and (b) how to pay for the improvements. I don't think we will actually go bust, although we probably would if I didn't pay all the bills out of my own pocket. We do have some advertising on the site but it only brings in peanuts, in comparison with what we really need.

I'd estimate that we need to generate something in the region of about US$8000 - 9000 in the near future, to pay for another server upgrade and new community software that doesn't keep falling over. With this kind of money being talked about, I'm not sure how long I can continue to subsidise the community. After all, I'm just an individual with bills of my own to pay.

One or two kind folk have expressed an interest in becoming benefactors, angels or philanthropists. I do hope something will come of that.

In the meantime, you can help to support your TrannyWeb by doing some or all of the following.

Become a benefactor yourself.

Regularly click on our advertising banners to visit our sponsors. If you buy something from them, please tell them you heard about them at TrannyWeb.

Think about using TrannyWeb to advertise your business or product. We had about 286504 page views in January 2002 and we look set to beat that this month. Just drop a line to Katie at katie@trannyweb.tv to get the ball rolling.

Katie has been writing a little book which will be available soon. When it is, make sure to buy a copy.

If you are a PERL programmer and would like to help out, please make yourself known.

We also need girls to help moderate the boards, to run chats from time to time and to write articles for The Trib. If you'd like to volunteer, please take one step forward and drop Katie a message at katie@trannyweb.tv.

I feel sure that together, we can keep TrannyWeb afloat and make it better for everyone.

3. TRANSGENRE ART EXHIBITION - LAST FEW DAYS by Alice, Webmistress International TG Guide

"The twenty- first century will be transgender"

Such is the currency of the international group of independent artists who make the event at this beginning of year 2002, by creating TRANSGENRE-ART - an exhibition dedicated to the artistic expression of the sensibility and the eroticism of transgender.

TRANSGENRE-ART groups together all the creations of visual art based on the representational and sensory confusion of the " feminine " and " male " genders, in the same representation.

Drawings, paintings, stickings, sculptures will be exposed to the public in Paris before crossing the world. A lot of amateurs were invited to join to the group of permanent artists. The selection committee retained which representative masterpiece of the spirit founder of the movement. It is not only about creations representing transsexuality. Some masterpieces are realized by transsexuals or men trying simply to exteriorize their feminine sensibility through art.

The LULU Lyon gallery, 16 rue Keller - 75011 Paris, welcomes the exhibition TRANSGENRE-ART.

Till February 23, 2002. From Tuesday till Saturday from 2pm till 8pm.

The artists exhibitors are:
